Donations
The collections in the Picture Collections mainly grow through donations. Every acquisition for the collections, including accepting donations, requires consideration. The staff of the Picture Collections study the material before making an acquisition decision. Any pictures whose ownership is unclear are not accepted in the collections.
A written agreement, in which the rights concerning the pictures and their related information are defined, is drawn up for each donation. As a rule, the Finnish Heritage Agency aims to gain full rights to use the material. The collection policy of the Picture Collections discusses the acceptance of donations in more detail.
A person or organisation considering making a donation should contact the Picture Collections customer services, who will guide them further on the issue.
